چکیده

We investigate the microlensing event KMT-2021-BLG-0322, for which light curve exhibits three distinctive sets of caustic-crossing features. It is found that overall features are approximately described by a binary-lens (2L1S) model, but model leaves substantial residuals. test various interpretations with aim explaining find residuals can be explained either considering nonrectilinear lens-source motion caused microlens-parallax and lens-orbital effects or adding low-mass companion to binary lens (3L1S model). The degeneracy between higher-order 2L1S 3L1S very severe, making it difficult single out correct solution based on photometric data. This was known before two previous events (MACHO-97-BLG-41 OGLE-2013-BLG-0723), led false detections planets in systems, thus identification KMT-2021-BLG-0322 illustrates not only common also emphasizing need check both deviations from models. From Bayesian analysis conducted measured lensing observables timescale, angular Einstein radius, microlens parallax, estimated components have masses $(M_1, M_2) =(0.62^{+0.25}_{-0.26}~M_\odot,0.07^{+0.03}_{-0.03}~M_\odot)$, solutions, mass tertiary component according $M_3=6.40^{+2.64}_{-2.78}~M_{\rm J}$.

Binary subwavelength diffractive-lens design.

We present a procedure for the design of binary diffractive lenses with pulse-width-modulated subwavelength features. The procedure is based on the combination of two approximate theories, effective medium theory and scalar diffraction theory, and accounts for limitations on feature size and etch depth imposed by fabrication. A design example is presented.

Lens Model Degeneracy and Cosmological Tests by Strong Gravitational Lensing

We study the relation between the gravitational lensing observables and the lens model and the cosmological parameters. We estimate the sensitivity of the lensing observables to the lens model and to the cosmological parameters. We show that the observables are primarily dependent on the lens model, while the dependence on cosmological parameters is minor (especially so for the dark energy para...

Higher-Order Interpretations and Program Complexity

Polynomial interpretations and their generalizations like quasi-interpretations have been used in the setting of first-order functional languages to design criteria ensuring statically some complexity bounds on programs [8]. This fits in the area of implicit computational complexity, which aims at giving machine-free characterizations of complexity classes. In this paper, we extend this approac...

OGLE-2014-BLG-1112LB: A Microlensing Brown Dwarf Detected through the Channel of a Gravitational Binary-lens Event

Due to the nature of the gravitational field, microlensing, in principle, provides an important tool for detecting faint and even dark brown dwarfs. However, the number of identified brown dwarfs is limited due to the difficulty of the lens mass measurement that is needed to check the substellar nature of the lensing object. In this work, we report a microlensing brown dwarf discovered from an ...

Stretchable Binary Fresnel Lens for Focus Tuning.

This paper presents a tuneable binary amplitude Fresnel lens produced by wafer-level microfabrication. The Fresnel lens is fabricated by encapsulating lithographically defined vertically aligned carbon nanotube (CNT) bundles inside a polydimethyl-siloxane (PDMS) layer. The composite lens material combines the excellent optical absorption properties of the CNT with the transparency and stretchab...
